Process Journey

Process Journey

The Process Journey feature provides users with an interactive motion bubble chart that visualizes the relationships between selected dimensions and measures over time. Users can choose a dimension to categorize the data, along with three measures to define the X-axis, Y-axis, and bubble size. By incorporating a time dimension, the system enables dynamic, time-based analysis, offering a clear view of trends, patterns, and changes as the bubbles move along the timeline. This feature supports detailed, time-sensitive insights into complex datasets.

Click on the ‘Analytics’ tab in ViVE’s main interface to display the following screen

Click on the ‘Process Journey’ option to display the following screen

image-20250130-061908.png

The x-axis is configured with the ‘Avg. Process Time’ and the Y-axis is configured with the total no. of ‘Orders’. The bubbles represent the process steps along the configured time line.

Hover on any of the bubbles to view the metrics of the Dimension set for the bubble.

Configurations

Click on the ‘Configurations’ tab to the right of the screen to display the following interface.

The following can be configured here:

  • Measure for X-axis

  • Measure for Y-axis

  • Bubble Size

  • Time Dimension

  • Bubble metrics

Configuring ‘X-axis’ & ‘Y-axis’

The Measure for the ‘X-axis' can be configured by selecting the measure from a list displayed by clicking the ‘X-axis Measure’ drop down, in the configuration screen.

In a similar procedure, the measure for ‘Y-axis’ can be configured by selecting the measure from the ‘Y-axis Measure’ drop down list.

Configuring the Bubble size

The size of the bubble depends on the data density of the Metric chosen for the bubble size.

For example if the ‘Average Process Time’ is the metric chosen for the bubble size, then the bubble with the highest ‘Average Process Time’ will be the largest and the bubble with the lowest ‘Average Process Time’ will be the smallest. The size of the rest of the bubbles will fall between these two sizes.

Select the Metric for the bubble size by choosing the same from a list displayed by clicking the ‘Bubble Size’ drop down, in the configuration screen

Configuring ‘Time Dimension’

Format for the time line can be chosen from a choice of 6 types.

Click ‘Time Dimension’ option in the configurations screen to display the list of Time formats.

Choose any one of the options to affect the change in the graph’s Time Line.

Configuring Bubble Metrics

Configurations for the Bubble can be set in terms of:

  • Dimensions

  • Values

  • Top/Bottom type

Dimensions

The Dimension for the bubble can be set by selecting from a list displayed by clicking the ‘Dimension' tab in the ‘Bubble’ feature of the Configuration screen.

image-20250130-070242.png

For example, if the ‘Process Activity’ is chosen for the dimension and if the the X-axis and the Y-axis are configured with the ‘Avg. Process Time’ and ‘Orders’ respectively, then:

  • The graph will be plotted with all the bubbles representing the different ‘Process Activities’ over the time line.

  • The ‘Average Process Time’ and the ‘Orders’ can be viewed by hovering on any of the bubbles.

Values

The Dimensions for any bubble can be viewed by hovering over the bubble. The Attribute values which need to be viewed, can be configured here.

Click on the ‘Values’ tab of the ‘bubble’ feature in the configuration screen to display a list of the selected Dimension related attribute values.

image-20250130-070444.png

Select one or more of the Values and click the ‘Generate’ button to affect the plot with the chosen configurations.

Top / Bottom values

The Top or Bottom counts can be set by choosing the type and setting a count for the same.

Click the ‘Type’ option of the ‘No’ feature in the Configuration screen and choose the type as ‘Top’ or ‘Bottom’.

Enter a number as the count in the box labelled ‘Value’ of the ‘Bubble’ feature in the configuration screen.

Note: If the ‘Top’ or ‘Bottom’ count is configured, then the selected Dimension ( if configured, prior to this) will be ignored, and the top or bottom count will be determined based on the configured x-axis measure.
